Iraq's 'Mudiriyat al-Amn al-Aama' ('General Directorate for Security') functioned as an internal intelligence agency in the country prior to 2003. A number of publications were put out under its imprint, including this study focusing on ethnic minorities in Baghdad. The study was prepared by Munir Taj al-Din Muhammad and Dr. Mundhir al-Badri, the latter of whom was known for works on Iraq's demography, including a study on the Armenians in Iraq and another on the 'Ghulat' (heterodox sects of Shi'i origin) in Iraq.
