The dissident-turned-opposition trend that has emerged out of the Islamic State is continuing on the theme of publishing essays in opposition to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. This new essay from al-Wafa' media is written by one 'Ummat al-Rahman al-Muslimeen,' whose brother 'Abu Muhammad' joined the Islamic State in 2015 and subsequently died. In this essay she relates some of the things Abu Muhamad supposedly told his family about what was going on inside the Islamic State. Thus, a key limitation of this essay is the second-hand nature of the experiences related about events inside the Islamic State.
The essay echoes what are now familiar themes in the discourse of the dissident-turned-opposition trend, such as the depravity of the Islamic State's security apparatus, the Islamic State media's role in deceiving the masses about the realities of what was going on inside the Islamic State, the persecution of the real 'ulama and students of 'Ilm etc. The essay's terminology should also be familiar to those who have followed the development of writings from the dissident-turned-opposition trend. Baghdadi is derided as 'Ibn Awad' and no recognition is given to the Islamic State's claim to be an actual state.

In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Hollow Organization
By Ummat al-Rahman al-Muslimeen
Praise be to God with the praise of the repenters, and prayers and peace be upon the best of the prophets and those sent: our prophet Muhammad, and on his family, companions and followers, and whoso has followed their footsteps with ihsan to the Day of Judgement.
As for what follows:
In the blessed month of Ramadan 1436 AH (June 2015 CE): i.e. four years ago, my brother Abu Muhammad- may God accept him- migrated to the land of al-Sham intending to wage jihad in the path of God Almighty, and so sooner did he arrive than he prostrated in thanks to God (Almighty and Exalted is He), for his hopes had been realized, and he finally became a mujahid in the 'Islamic State', and he had been praying to God- Almighty and Exalted is He- in his prayers and prostration and rising that He should bless him with hijra and mobilizing after his previous attempts had been hindered and resulted in failure.
He arrived in Turkey, and there he met with some of the brothers, then he straightaway entered the Dawla.
The contact with him was cut off for two months or three- approximately- then it returned- praise be to God- so he could contact us again, and inform us that he had passed the training camp, and that he was sent to the battles of 'Baiji' in Iraq led by a Daghestani man- the deputy of the amir Omar al-Shishani (may God accept him), and he narrated to us how the companion brother Abu Omar al-Muhajir- may God accept him- was killed during the clearing of the houses in which some of the apostates were fortifying themselves.
Abu Muhammad- may God accept him- did not remain long in Iraq until he returned to al-Sham, and specifically to 'Wilayat al-Raqqa', then he moved to 'Wilayat Halab', where he participated in the Kweiris battles, and there he was wounded in his foot, so he returned again to Raqqa after he recovered- praise and thanks be to God- and in it he worked in the 'Diwan al-Hisba' for some time, then he retreated to Deir az-Zor, then the withdrawals came one after another until he took up stable residence in 'Wilayat al-Baraka', and specifically in the 'al-Sousa district', and during this period he related to us some of what afflicted him inside the 'Dawla' organization. For example: he informed us that a sit-in or general strike was held by some of the judges in 'Wilayat al-Baraka', because of the lack of subjection of the amnis to the Shari'i judiciary, and that was after the people's complaints against the amnis accumulated, but without success or benefit.
And he informed us that he heard the address of the 'wali of al-Sham' Abd al-Qadir- may there be upon him from God what he deserves- on the pulpit of one of the mosques, in which he encouraged them to carry out the apostasy hadd punishment against his eminence the mujahid Sheikh Abu Ya'qub al-Maqdisi- may God accept him- on numerous pretexts of which the most important are: his contact with Issam al-Barqawi (Abu Muhammad al-Maqdisi)- may God bring him to perdition- and divulging the secrets of the Muslims! And by this very falsified point they deemed him an apostate, and its falsity was proven by the testimony of the Ahl al-'Ilm,[i] and by the testimony of Issam al-Barqawi himself. And God is our reliance and He suffices as trustee!
And he informed us that an armed group of extremists assailed the shop of a Muslim man, killed him, plundered him and they fled after completing their crime.
And he informed us that the 'Dawla' organization found the bodies of two muhajireen from Tajikistan, who were murdered in one of the bases of the organization.
And he informed us that many of the muhajireen and ansar had abandoned fighting, and rejected going out to ribat, and they had opened business stalls[ii] after poverty spread among them, and that was because the 'Dawla' organization had stopped giving the salaries to the families for long months, and many of the muhajireen began relying on the money transfers of their families.
And many are the matters he told us about and which memory does not help me now to document. And all these calamities and matters that were happening inside the Dawla of Ibn Awad, while his Media Diwan was engaging in its evil role in overturning the facts and portraying realities to the contrary, and sugarcoating the situations, belittling and minimizing them so that the deceived mass would not know the truth of what was happening from oppression they would falsely tie to the Prophetic Methodology!!
Abu Muhammad- may God accept him- was thinking of leaving this accursed area, and with him hundreds of the brothers of the muhajireen and ansar, but they faced two problems:
1. Money (costs of smuggling)
2. The dogs of the 'Diwan al-Amn'.
The first was overcome and the second remained.
He did not wish to flee from the fighting or return despite the fact that my father offered him a huge sum to entice him to return from the jihad! He was thinking of jihad in another place, and he wanted to be rid of the oppression of Ibn Awad and the traitor amnis the enemies of God Almighty- may there be upon them from God what they deserve, firstly. And the question: why does Ibn Awad want to compel the youth to remain in the areas of his control while he, his family and retinue had fled from it??!
'Secrets of the 'Dawla": what the amnis would cite as pretexts, and thus they did not let the youth leave the areas of their control voluntarily, and in all of the history of jihad there has never been an amir who makes use of the security apparatus to catch the mujahideen who are thinking of leaving the fighting with them, except Ibn Awad and his depraved thugs. And so long as we heard of the hundreds, indeed thousands, of the youth who were waging jihad in Chechnya, Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia and other places, when they left, not even the Tawagheet pursued them! But the mindset of Ibn Awad and his thugs has surpassed the mindset of the Tawagheet themselves.
There has passed through my mind the position of Abu Muhammad- may God accept him- as he cried before God (Almighty and Exalted is He) out of desire for hijra and mobilization. Then a few years later he himself is the one trying to leave this oppressive Dawla by any means!
My mind can hardly forget these two contrasting positions, and God is my reliance and suffices He as trustee.
In the fantasy of Ibn Awad: you find the muhajireen women who left the bounty of Europe handing themselves over to the apostate 'Free Army' forces after they were confronted with the reality.
In the fantasy of Ibn Awad: the poor muhajireen resort to the 'Diwan al-Zikat' but it is rejected to grant them what should cover their last breath of life and the last breath of life of their families and children, unless they have a stamped document, and that is on the grounds they are soldiers who must hear and obey!! And they were previously giving to the poor without a document, and they were only pushed to that because some of the people of ill hearts stole the wealth of the 'Dawla' organization and fled with it. And so the intensification of pressure was on the poor and destitute, and they were the victim. But they did not blame themselves for their bad choice and their handing over of responsibility to those not suited for it.
In the fantasy of Ibn Awad: the prisons were filled with the mujahideen on different pretexts, like when they said: "They do not bear affiliation ID cards." Or on the pretext of waging war on extremists- so they claimed- for there was among those they arrested a muhajir youth from the Maghreb. He remained in the prison for some months, so when it became clear to them he does not bear the thought of the extremists,[iii] they released him.
So the brother headed to the judiciary raising his complaint to them, so the response swiftly came to him: not from the 'Diwan al-Qada wa al-Madhalim' but rather from the 'Amn' dogs who bore the following message for him: "If you head to the judiciary again, you will pay with your life for that"!!!
In the fantasy of Ibn Awad: one of the proud brothers gave a sermon in one of the mosques of 'Wilayat al-Baraka' directing his criticism to Ibn Awad and his depraved thugs, so the thugs of the Amn kidnapped him, and no one knew his fate after that, and the accusation for his kidnapping is 'Splitting the rank.'[iv] So do you see what is this Dawla whose rank is split by a sermon to correct the course? By God, a Dawla that is weaker than the spider's web! And Ibn Awad has not realized that the difference of opinions is a healthy phenomenon in every entity and group, and it has been high time for these sick minds to understand that.
And it has become clear to us and through the media that many of the muhajireen and ansar had thrown down their weapons, abandoned the fight and handed themselves over. Are all these people acting in collusion on the lie that the Dawla of Ibn Awad and the thugs of the 'Amn' are oppressive, immoral innovators and transgressors who do not fear God Almighty?!
It never occurred to anyone that the tide would be turned, for that blessed contingent of the Ahl al-'Ilm that built the edifice of the 'Dawla' and made high its structure and sacrificed for its sake one of those days became its staunchest enemies. And lowly people who have no regard for God Almighty in truth gained authority over their necks. And they have no trace of duty to these noble and eminent 'ulama, and after Ibn Awad killed them in oppression and tyranny, his servants set forth mangling their properties and transgressing against them- and God is our reliance and He suffices as trustee- and by God even if these men had been from the idolatrous disbelievers it would have been obligatory upon you, oh accursed al-Baghdadi, to reciprocate their ihsan with ihsan, and learn duty from the Messenger of God (SAWS).
For the idolater 'al-Mat'im bin Uday' broke the pact requiring to besiege the Prophet (SAWS) and his people from Bani Hashim, and his Jahili zeal refused that oppression should fall on them, so the Prophet (SAWS) preserved it for him,[v] so in the Badr raid the Muslims took 70 idolaters prisoner, and 'al-Mat'im' had perished, so the Prophet (SAWS) said: "Had al-Mat'im bin Uday been alive and then spoken to me about these filthy idolaters,[vi] I would have left them to him."[vii]
And it has been traced from Hassan bin Thabit (may God be pleased with him)- also- in praise of 'al-Mat'am bin Uday' for his granting protection to the Prophet (SAWS).[viii]
Do not these noble 'ulama have a good deed by which you should remember them, oh Ibn Awad?
And on the authority of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may God be pleased with him): he said: "The Messenger of God (SAWS) came out on Adha or Fitr to the place of prayer, so he came upon the women, and said: 'Oh you women, give alms, for I have seen you are most of the people of the fire.' They said: 'Why, oh Messenger of God?' He said: 'You frequently curse and are ungrateful to your husbands...'"[ix]
So in this hadith is evidence that disavowing what is good and resisting what is right are of the qualities of the people of the fire.
And we deem the Prophetic Methodology above the falsehoods of Ibn Awad and his depraved thugs, for God (Almighty and Exalted is He) said- and if God Almighty says all other words fall: "And likewise God presents examples of truth and falsehood. As for the foam, it vanishes, cast off. As for what benefits the people, it remains on Earth" (al-Ra'ad 17).
Indeed God Almighty brought down among the Companions of the Messenger of God (SAWS) on the Day of Uhud a part of the Qur'an to be recited to the Day of Judgment. The Almighty and Exalted has said: "Or why, when a calamity struck you, even as you had inflicted one twice as great, you said: 'From where is this?' Say: it is from yourselves. Indeed God is powerful over everything" (Al Imran 165).
So this verse came down to those whose feet soles you do not equal, oh Ibn Awad. And despite that, we have not seen from you a return to the truth, and by God the amirs of the 'Islamic State of Iraq' were better than you also. As they were frank about their mistakes as haughtiness and pride did not bar them from recognizing as such. Indeed they were proud in their acknowledgement of this in the eyes of the monotheists, while we have not heard from Ibn Awad or any of the official spokesmen in the name of his fantasy that they acknowledged their mistake or have gone back on it, but rather they became more obstinate, arrogant and haughty against the people. And no grace is to be mentioned for them even in cancelling the innovative statement for distribution:[x] a cancellation that came about reluctantly by the grace of the 'ulama and their insistence while Ibn Awad has no grace in it but rather this latter person went back in certainty on it by his killing of the writers of the statement and obliterating them and declaring takfir on them while strengthening those who opposed the 'Knowledge series in affirming issues of manhaj'[xi] from the ignorant extremists in the disgraceful council of his reception.[xii]
Abu al-Atahiya said:
"To the Judge of the Day of Judgment we move forward, and in God's presence do the adversaries come together,
And you will know in the reckoning when we meet tomorrow in the presence of God who is the one worthy of blame."[xiii]
And I conclude with a message to the supporters of the oppressors of the 'Islamic State' organization. I say in it: you may become one of these days the soldiers of Ibn Awad, and at that time the oppressors will gain authority over your necks, so you will drink the bitter cups of oppression. And God (Almighty and Exalted is He) spoke the truth when He said: "And likewise We appoint some of the oppressors over others in what they were earning" (al-An'am 129).
