Since October 7 and the launch of Israel's military campaign in Gaza, there have essentially been two splits in among jihadists about the issue. The more familiar split is between the Islamic State and other jihadists, in that the Islamic State refuses to give any kind of endorsement to Hamas' actions and has largely used the Gaza campaign to reiterate (again) how its own path is the only right one to take: Hamas remains an 'apostate' movement for various actions (including the alliance with Iran), and the Palestinian cause must be rectified through elimination of the 'apostate' entities surrounding Israel, realisation that the war is of a purely religious nature, and that the war is to be fought on the basis of correct creed and methodology (i.e. the Islamic State's creed and methodology). This sort of messaging can be seen in the latest editorial released in its al-Naba' newsletter and the attack the group claimed in Iran at the start of this year.
