Just over six years ago (25 July 2018), the Islamic State launched an attack on the eastern countryside of the primarily Druze province of al-Suwayda' in southern Syria, killing huge numbers of people in an assault that was largely repelled by the efforts of local fighters. For the purpose of the historical record, the following post consists of an archive of names of people in al-Suwayda' who were killed as a result of that attack, being either civilian victims or those who bore arms and fought against the Islamic State. The list was kindly provided to me by Abu Amir Osama 'Alabi, leader of a local al-Suwayda' faction called Faz'at Fakhr. The total consists of 239 names. I have included some contextual annotations as well.
