After nearly five months of work, it gives me great pleasure to say that I have now finished translating the entire surviving collection of the works of Saint Eulogius of Córdoba, providing commentary and contextual notes in the process. I now present the body of his works in the links below. For background on Eulogius, I also include the biography of him written by his friend Álvaro of Córdoba.
To my knowledge, this is the only translated collection of Eulogius' writings that one can access online for free. These writings are the most important primary source on the 'Martyrs of Córdoba' affair during the mid-ninth century CE in the Emirate of Córdoba and provide important insights on Christian-Muslim relations in Spain during this period. The total word count of these works comes within the range of an average modern book.
I hope that this open access collection will be of value to specialist historians and general readers alike. The open access nature also provides the best opportunity for feedback, discussions of ideas and any suggestions for amending errors. I would like the process of refinement to be open and collaborative.
I must dedicate this entire collection to Alberto Fernandez. It is Alberto who has shown consistent support and enthusiasm for this project from the outset. When I published my first translation of one of Eulogius' works with commentary, I dedicated it to Alberto. As the series started with dedication to him, so it must end with dedication to him.
